AI cannot currently create life, but it is playing an increasingly important role in synthetic biology and the design of living systems. Researchers use AI to model complex biological processes, predict protein structures, and design genetic circuits, accelerating the engineering of microorganisms for specific functions such as producing biofuels or medicines. While AI can help simulate and optimize the components necessary for life, the actual creation of a fully autonomous, self-replicating living organism from non-living materials remains beyond current scientific and technological capabilities. Life creation still requires biological building blocks and laboratory-based experimental work that AI supports but does not replace.
