Background
Researchers have made significant progress in developing systems that can translate American Sign Language (ASL) video to English text, particularly in controlled research conditions. In ideal research conditions, with high-quality video recordings and limited vocabulary, these systems have achieved impressive accuracy rates, demonstrating the potential for automated ASL translation.
