While AI models can process and summarize large volumes of text, they often struggle to replicate the depth and insight of human analysis, particularly in identifying gaps, inconsistencies, and areas of debate in the literature. Recent advances in natural language processing and machine learning have improved the capabilities of AI-generated literature reviews, but they are not yet on par with those written by human experts. The development of more sophisticated AI models that can mimic human-like critical thinking and analytical skills is an active area of research.
Models with retrieval over the literature now write surveys with proper citations, identifying gaps and trajectories that human reviewers verify.
