Stuff AI CAN'T Do

Can AI swim across the english channel ?

What do you think?

Cold, currents, jellyfish, 21 nautical miles in open water. The challenge is biological, not computational.

Currently, AI systems are not capable of physically swimming across the English Channel, as they do not possess a physical body that could undertake such a task. While AI can be used to analyze and optimize swimming techniques, as well as provide real-time data and support to human swimmers, it cannot independently perform physical actions. The development of autonomous underwater vehicles and robots has made progress in recent years, but these machines are designed for specific tasks and are not yet capable of mimicking human swimming abilities. AI's role in swimming remains largely limited to supporting and augmenting human capabilities.

AI systems currently lack the physical capabilities to swim across the English Channel, as they exist primarily as software running on computer hardware and do not possess a physical body. While AI can be used to analyze and optimize swimming techniques, it cannot physically perform the act of swimming. The current state of the art in robotics and artificial intelligence has not yet produced a system capable of autonomously swimming long distances in open water. Robotic systems that can swim exist, but they are not yet advanced enough to accomplish a feat like swimming the English Channel.
